Mirik Tourist Destination
Mirik has become a popular tourist destination for its climate, natural environment, and easy accessibility. Located 47 km from Siliguri, it takes about two hours to reach Mirik Bazar. Sumendu Lake, also known as Mirik Lake, is the central attraction in Mirik.
Rain and spring water keep feeding the lake, maintaining its year-round water levels. The depth of the lake varies from 3 ft to 25 ft. The western bank is surrounded by a forest of tall dhupi trees, offering walking trails for visitors. There is a beautiful garden on the eastern side where tourists can relax and enjoy the scenery. Boating is a popular activity on Mirik Lake.
The Bokar Ngedon Chokhor Ling Monastery, located about a kilometer east/southeast of Mirik Lake, is a picturesque Buddhist monastery.
