    Temporary Update

Toy Train Service Resumption: Regular DHR toy train services between New Jalpaiguri (NJP) and Darjeeling are expected to resume on October 1, 2024, after a suspension of almost three months. For fare tariffs for the daily round trip from Darjeeling to Ghum, passenger train, and special coach bookings, please visit the DHR fare details page.

Reason for Suspension: The services were suspended on July 5 due to a section of NH110 (formerly NH55) sinking near Paglajhora, a waterfall between Sukna and Kurseong, which posed safety risks as the DHR tracks run parallel to the highway.

Ongoing Restoration Efforts: DHR authorities are working to restore the tracks near Paglajhora, with an expected completion by September 30, allowing for service resumption from October 1.

Impact on Tourism: The suspension has caused concerns among stakeholders in the tourism industry, as the toy train is a major attraction for visitors to Darjeeling.

Joy Ride Services: Despite the suspension of regular services, the 14km joy ride between Darjeeling and Ghoom has remained operational, with eight joy rides running daily. Authorities plan to increase the number of joy rides to 12 daily from October 1.

Highway Inspection: Bengal PWD and Union ministry officials inspected a cave-in at Swetijhora on NH10 to assess road restoration work, which has been affecting traffic on the highway since late Monday.
